Election of officers at our 2015 meeting.
|
About UsThis chapter was formed in May of 2015 and we held our installation of Charter on July 18, 2015. We started with eight members and have had much growth since our inception. People contact us on a regular basis interested in joining us seeking camaraderie and great satisfaction in helping us to fulfill our mission.
We hold monthly meetings on the third Wednesday at 6 PM at the Athens American Legion Post 187. In addition to business meetings, we make time to chat and exchange news of our military children. We offer an opportunity to provide emotional support to each other in a way a non-military Mom might find hard to understand. We draw on each other's strengths and knowledge. |
Many of our members have sons and daughters that have served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, or are presently deployed to other areas. We also have a large membership of moms of veterans allowing us to focus on veterans' needs as well.
We participate in many projects throughout the year that include sending care packages and cards and letters to our troops located in the states and deployed, visiting our veterans in nursing facilities in the area, and helping with other military related groups. Our projects will continue to grow with our organization. |
